How do I install DF ADR on a Mac?+
Open the .dmg file and drag DF ADR into Applications. An older version is simply replaced – projects and settings are kept.
And on Windows?+
Run “DF ADR Setup … .exe” and follow the steps. DF ADR then appears in the Start menu.
Where do I enter my activation code?+
On first launch or any time under Help › License …: enter your e-mail address and the code from the e-mail. Activation happens once online.
“This code is already active on 2 computers” – what now?+
On one of the two computers choose Help › License … › “Release This Computer”. If that computer is no longer available, write to us and we'll free the seat.
I can't save.+
DF ADR is running as a demo (10 minutes per launch, no saving). Activate it under Help › License ….
Script & video
The script won't import.+
DF ADR reads .rtf and .docx. Open old .doc files in Word and save them as .docx.
Take numbers start at the wrong place.+
Select the entry where take 1 should start and choose First Take (⌘1).
Timecodes don't match the video.+
Check frame rate (FPS) and start TC under Edit › Project Settings. The start TC is the timecode of the first video frame.
Which video formats work?+
.mp4 and .mov. Frame rates from 23.976 to 60 fps, drop frame included.
DAW link
The video doesn't follow the DAW.+
In Pro Tools the MTC button in the Edit window must be on; in Nuendo enable “MIDI Timecode Follows Project”. Then play the DAW once – only then does it send timecode.
The video is offset against the DAW.+
In DF ADR set “Video starts in the DAW at” under Settings › DAW Link, or click “Take from DAW”.
No MIDI ports on Windows.+
Install the free loopMIDI, create the ports “DF ADR MTC” and “DF ADR MMC” and click “Rescan” in DF ADR.
Which Pro Tools version do I need for markers?+
Takes as markers use the Pro Tools scripting SDK, available from Pro Tools 2023. Linking (timecode, start/stop) also works with older versions.
License & subscription
Can I move DF ADR to a new computer?+
Yes. Release the seat on the old computer (Help › License …), then activate the new one with the same code.
Do I need a permanent internet connection?+
No. After activation you work offline. Subscriptions check in online at least every 30 days.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
Via the link in your purchase confirmation or on the “Cancel subscription” page. The subscription remains active until the end of the paid period.
